Title Description

The farm was all Lugene and her older brother Harley had left of their parents. Their step-father was intent upon stealing it from them. Lugene vowed that would never happen. What with trying to keep the farm, get Harley out of jail, and remain alive, Lugene had a busy summer.

Reviews

This story, with its spunky heroine, is reminiscent of True Grit by Charlie Portis, or Paper Moon by Joe David Brown. Lugene Canfield and her brother, Harley, think living with their stepfather is unbearable, but when they run away to New Orleans they find the world a harsh place for a couple of teenagers. However, Lugene's optimisum is justified when they find people who are willing to help them. If you like adventure and surprises on every page, then Song of the Sparrow is the book for you.
